Student Senate, led by teacher Anna Blasko, is holding a Blood Drive Sept. 22 at Tallmadge High School.
¨We host the Red Cross at our school. Any blood that is collected from donors goes to local hospitals. Sign up for the blood drive on Friday either with the Red Cross app or schedule it with me in person,¨ Blasko said.
The Red Cross is in critical need for blood of all types due to back-to-back months of almost constant natural disasters.
“The blood is sent to local hospitals in Akron and Kent,¨ Blasko said.
There are three blood drives every school year: one in March, one in June, and one in September, which is most immediately pressing.
Blasko said there was a “pretty good” turnout last year with close to 180 donors.
