THS is taking part in the Chick-fil-A Food Drive from Oct. 2 to Oct. 5 as part of a rivalry week against Cuyahoga Falls High School (CFHS). Whichever school wins will receive Chick-fil-A lunches for everyone in the school.
“Fox 8 picked two schools that are in the league; it’s a big game between us and a league opponent,” Athletic Director Bill Johnson said.
The lunch provided will be completely free and available to both students and staff.
“I have started working with the Pep Club and Mrs. Headrick to get the information out and promote it the best we can,¨ Johnson said.
Headrick’s Broadcast class has also undertaken the canned food drive as a two-week project. Students will work together to create announcements, podcasts and promotions at TES, TMS and throughout the community.
Fox 8 will sponsor the food drive and will be covering the home game against CFHS, Oct. 6
“I’m really excited about our ability to help others as well as strive against a rival. Any chance to beat my brother is exciting for me,” Johnson said.
Johnson’s brother, Kenny, is the Athletic Director at Cuyahoga Falls.
The collected canned foods will be donated to Tallmadge Good Neighbors.
“We need to win because Chick-fil-A is top-tier good, and also we need to donate as many cans as we can, pun intended¨ said Senior Hannah Burkholder, a member of the broadcast staff.
THS students can donate non-perishable food items to the food drive at any of the student entrances. While TES and TMS students should give them to their homeroom teachers.
