The Cleveland Guardians Spring Training season is off and running, and it might not be going as well as the regular season is predicted to be. The Guardians finished 92 – 69 last season and have a projection this season to be 77 – 85 according to the article: “Preseason predictions show no love for the Guardians in 2025: The week in baseball” written by Paul Hoynes found on cleveland.com.
“I think we will be about as good as last season if we can hit and if all of our pitchers stay healthy,” junior baseball player and Guardians fan Mario Case said.
So far for spring training the Guardians are 10 – 13, as of March 18th, 2025, putting them near the bottom of the league. Even though the record might not be the greatest, some players are on the rise for a good season. Triston McKenzie, Brayan Rocchio, and Lane Thomas are at the top of this list.
“I think Steven Kwan will be the most influential player this season because he is going to bring the energy and have another great season,” junior pitcher and Guardians fan Shane Patton said.
Last post season went well for Cleveland with them making it to the AL Championship, but falling short 1-4 to the New York Yankees. MLB.com gives the Guardians a 33% chance to make the playoffs, and it is not the clearest path to get there.
“I think this postseason will go well. I think the Guards are looking to compete once again with the top dogs. I like our bullpen this year, I think it’s much improved and I think José and Kwan are going to have breakout years,” junior Cleveland sports enthusiast Kaleb Johnson said.
