The Tallmadge Recreation Center has been making adjustments and updates to make sure that they are being healthy and safe for the Tallmadge Community.

Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Jessica Simons said that they will now be allowing all ages 13 and over to be able to use the facility without an adult present.

“We are trying to do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. We are hopeful that by doing our part, we will be able to remain open,” Simons said.

All users of faculty must be a guest or a member to be able to enter. They are not allowing spontaneous pick-up games on the soccer field and the basketball court for the time being.

“We are also strongly discouraging congregating anywhere in our facility and the use of masks is required,” Simons said.

The Rec Center plans to be open special hours on Thanksgiving (7 a.m.-11 a.m.), Christmas Eve (5 a.m.-12 p.m.), New Year’s Eve (5 a.m.-5 p.m.) and New Year’s Day (10 a.m.-2 p.m.). They will be closed on Christmas. The Rec Center staff is still planning on keeping the upcoming events.

“Our winter session of High School Soccer is now accepting registrations. The league is for boys, girls and coed teams with high school-age students,” Simons said.

These games will usually play Mondays, and Tuesday nights if need be. The league in general will include eight games and will cost four hundred and sixty dollars per team. The registration date will end near the end of December.
