Due to COVID-19 case numbers slowly falling and vaccinations going out, Tallmadge High school seniors are being given the opportunity to have a prom this year. Scheduled for May 7 from 6:30-9:30 p.m., prom will take place at St. George, as it has in years past.

“I’m thankful that we have the opportunity to have a senior prom, even though it’s not your typical dance. The teachers are still trying their best to give us some sort of normality and I’m thankful for that,” senior Kamryn Sands said.

This year’s prom theme is “Once Upon a Time”, an enchanted forest look. Prom themes were presented and voted for by the junior executive board, advised by teacher Arene Staszak.

“There will be lots of trees, flowers and greenery,” junior class president Mia Hurst said in regards to the theme.

Due to social distancing rules, there will currently be no dancing allowed at prom. Dinner will be served, along with many fun picture opportunities to keep busy. This year, it will be seniors and their dates only.  Tickets are set to go on sale on Monday, April 19.

“We do plan to still have music and photo op areas. We plan to have a promenade at St. George and livestream to the families,” Staszak said.
