Graduation check meetings being held for juniors

Juniors are now required to sign up to meet with a counselor to perform a graduation check. These meetings are for students to know what is needed in order to meet graduation requirements.

The counseling department came up with this idea to address the new state-mandated graduation plans that need to be developed for all students,” Counselor Taylor Lane said.

Information on student credits, test scores and graduation seals will be covered.  These meetings will take place for thirty minutes during the academy.

‘[The meetings] assist students in the class of 2023 and beyond to understand the new permanent requirements for graduation,” Lane said.

The plan was developed at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. The Class of 2023 is the first class to graduate with the new permanent requirements.

Lane said, “Our goal is to have all students leave their meeting with a clear understanding of what they have done and will still need to do to graduate under the new permanent requirements for graduation.”
